I have some news to share with you ...
I’m building something special, and I’d love you to be one of the first to know about it
Hello friends,
As many of you know, a little over two years ago I started my newsletter. I wanted to create a space where I could share my thoughts about life in all its glorious imperfection. (For regular readers, apologies for the longer-than-expected gap between newsletters!😢)
Thousands of you have allowed me into your inboxes each week and, to be honest, writing and curating the newsletter has been one of my favourite activities of my week. So much so that I have always wanted to do more. I’ve always loved the idea of a newsletter that is also a community hub, somewhere where readers and writer can come together. But where to create this special space?
Enter my new home … Substack!
Some of you may be familiar with the platform. Others not. Most importantly, it will still allow you to enjoy my newsletter as you always have – but with a bunch of additions, including … a new name! I’ve called it “Vamp” … a great word, a fun, naughty, rebellious word encapsulating a certain authentic, passionate, individual spirit.
Vamp, which I think of as a modern mini-magazine, will deliver the same insightful personal reflections to get you thinking, to inspire you and lift your spirits. And I’ll still carefully curate links to the most essential stories of the week to help you be the most interesting person in the room.
Plus – by publishing Vamp from my new home on Substack I’ll now be able to chat with you in the comments section. You’ll also get to chat to one another.
Now, for the delicate part. As some of you might know, Substack allows writers to charge for their work. I’ve always believed this to be important because writers are generally woefully underpaid and Substack offers an alternative and sustainable way to have a writing career. But – I also worry about asking for money when times are tight for everyone.
So here is what I have decided to do:
FREE SUBSCRIBERS
Free subscribers to Vamp will continue to receive public posts – generally at least one newsletter a fortnight. It will include my reflections about life and inspire you with explorations into the infinite possibilities of individuality, creativity, curiosity, authenticity, audacity and adventure. I hope it will continue to bring you joy.
PAID SUBSCRIBERS – THE VAMP MONTHLY or ANNUAL MEMBERSHIPS
However for those who are interested in receiving weekly posts with my full extra and curated offering of links and recommendations, a paid subscription might interest you. As well as supporting me and the work I do you’ll also get:
Access to the Vamp community via the comments section: you’ll be able to comment, chat with me there and communicate with other Vamp readers;
Access to the Vamp community via twice-yearly, subscriber-only Zoom group chats;
Access to my full archive of past Vamp posts;
My deep appreciation for making this creative project financially sustainable.
And, finally, I’m offering a third tier subscription:
VAMP FOUNDING AMBASSADOR
This is for those of you who want to make the biggest show of support to Vamp. Beyond access to all the benefits paid subscribers receive, for you, I’ll also write occasional more exclusive personal posts. You’ll also get first-dibs access to the Zoom group chats and other special offers.
Finally, as a HUGE thank you for being with me over the past couple of years I wanted to offer you an exclusive discount. If you become an annual paid subscriber in the next 24 hours then you will get 25% off forever. That means that even if the prices increase you will never be charged any more. To claim this you must sign up in the next 24 hours. (And if a monthly subscription feels more right for you then you can also sign up by hitting the button below.)
THANK YOU! You have my deep, deep appreciation.

Hi, you may remember me as a participant in a DV/Strangulation research article you wrote. I admire your writing, but cannot afford a full subscription. Love & Respect for your contribution to society 💜✊
